Before 1975 Binh Minh Company is a production base named "Thai Duong Ky Nghe Y Phuc Company". Abbreviated name of the company is: "SOGAMEN" with 3 manufacturing organizations and more than 100 workers.

In 1977, according to Decision CNN/TCQL/618 dated August 19 1977, the company was nationalized with the name Binh Minh garment factory directly under Ministry of Light industry. In this period, military clothing was the main product of the factory. In the beginning of the 80s of the twentieth century, Binh Minh had workshop scale of 2,500 m2, about 200 types of equipment and machines and more than 300 workers producing many products mainly exported to the markets of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.

In late 1990, East European market experienced great fluctuation; however, thanks to the open door policy of the State, Binh Minh successfully signed contracts to export knitwear to Taiwan. This was the first step for the expansion of the market to the capitalist countries, gradually bringing the enterprise to overcome any difficulties.

In 1993, with a constantly growth and high lists of customers along with the implementation of Decree 388 -HDBT dated November 20 1991 of the Council of Ministers and by decision No. 417 CNN/TCQL dated April 29 1993 of the Ministry of Light industry, Binh Minh garment factory was renamed as Binh Minh Garment Company.

In 1999, the company changed its name to Binh Minh garment Joint Stock Company. It was the first unit in Vietnam textile to implement equitization, according to Decision no. 244/1998/QD-TTg dated December 18 1998 of the Prime Minister and was also the first unit to pilot the sale of shares to foreigners. Despite a lot of difficulties and obstacles in the first steps, Binh Minh successfully implement the transition from a state-owned enterprise into a joint stock company by its determination, dynamism, creativity along with a spirit of solidarity and was on the top 5 of the industry.

In the period of 2002-2006, by the policy "credibility through product quality " and the aims of protecting health and rights, improving life for employees, Binh Minh clearly defined working time for workers, wages, bonuses, pension for employees and then implemented in accordance with ISO 9001 and SA 8000 effectively.

Phát huy mặt hàng chủ lực là các loại áo sơ mi nam, Bình Minh từng bước được người tiêu dùng ca ngợi là đơn vị có “ áo sơ- mi đẹp nhất ngành may”. Từ năm 2010, Bình Minh mạnh dạn đầu tư sản xuất cho thị trường nội địa, xây dựng thương hiệu cho dòng sản phẩm sơ-mi cao cấp có phong cách Nhật Bản. Thương hiệu Gendai ra đời với khẩu hiệu “ Elegant Japanese Design” cùng form áo thiết kế theo phong cách thời trang công sở thích hợp với dáng người Á Châu. Từng đường kim mũi chỉ được trau chuốt, họa tiết, chất liệu được thiết kế tinh tế, sắc sảo. Sản phẩm Gendai được thăng hoa từ những ý tưởng thiết kế độc đáo, từ bàn tay sáng tạo không ngừng của đội ngũ công nhân viên của công ty May Bình Minh.

Là năm đánh dấu sự tái cơ cấu hoàn toàn từ con người cho đến cơ sở hạ tầng sản xuất nhằm đón đầu Hiệp định Đối tác xuyên Thái Bình Dương (TPP) cùng Hiệp định Thương mại Tự do Việt Nam-EU (EVFTA). Bình Minh không ngừng đưa ra các phương án tái đầu tư sản xuất, ưu tiên hàng đầu là nguồn vải cung cấp cho công tác sản xuất. After 15 years of operating in the form of joint-stock company, Binh Minh has been evaluated as one of units of high efficiency production across Vietnam textile & garment industry by Vietnam National Textile And Garment Group, a typical business of Vietnam National Textile And Garment Group with many merits of the State and Ministries such as labor medals of all ranks and many other prestigious titles.

Currently, the company has more than 2500 employees, 10 branches with an area of more than 40,000 m² workshop in Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, and Hai Phong with over 3000 modern machinery and equipment.
